On-Call\Part-time Firefighters wanted!

‘On-Call’ Firefighters are part-time paid Firefighters that live or work in their local community. You MUST be able to respond to your local Fire Station, day or night, within four minutes, depending on the cover you are able to offer.

Who are we? A group of men or women living in the local community who do other jobs or are parents at home. When a call is received we come together to make a team that DOES make a real difference.

What is required?
You must live or work within four minutes of one of the Fire Stations below. There is a real shortage of Firefighters in our rural towns and villages. We have an increasing number of female Firefighters, are you interested?
We do need people who are physically fit, are good team players and are able to follow clear commands.

The Job
 - Our On-Call crews do exactly the same job as their full-time colleagues whilst at an incident. Our rural Fire Stations tend to be quieter, ranging between 60 – 500 calls per year. A weekly training session on Station is compulsory (and fun!) this is to develop experience on equipment and team skills.

INTERESTED???
 - Please feel free to call into your local fire station on their local training night. Look below to see if your station currently has vacancies, if it has please complete the form below for us to send you an information pack.

What have you got to lose? What could your community gain?
Together we are saving lives

Below are the locations of all our On-Call Fire Stations within Dorset. We have indicated which stations are Recruiting and which are Not recruiting. Dorset Fire and Rescue Service is a values led organisation and we are committed to equal opportunities.

The ‘two ticks’ disability symbol

Dorset Fire and Rescue Service have been accredited with the Employment Service (Job Centre Plus) ‘two ticks’ disability symbol. As an employer using this symbol, the Service operates a Guaranteed Interview Scheme (GIS) which means that all disabled candidates, who meet the minimum criteria for a post, will be interviewed. The minimum criteria for a post will be made available to applicants through the person specification for the job role applied for. Candidates can apply by indicating on the application form that they have a disability.
