The Fire Fighters Charity (formally known as FSNBF - Fire Services National Benevolent Fund) cares for over 11,000 men, women and children in the fire services community.
They offer assistance, advice and support services to any serving or retired fire service personnel and their dependants. This may be in the form of tailored therapy and recuperation programmes, child and family focused therapy, or the confidential Helpline, to name a few.
"The aim is to: exist to help members of the fire and rescue community who put their lives on the line every day to save others, whilst providing support for their families".
It costs £9m every year for the Fire Fighters Charity to offer these services, and with no government funding is reliant upon donations. There are many initiatives set up to help raise funds and awareness of the charity. With 250,000 individuals potentially entitled to the Fire Fighters Charity's help, every donation is vital if it is to continue reaching out to those members of the fire service in need.
We hold a number of events throughout the year that raise money for the Fire Fighters Charity. This includes Station Car Washes and Open Days.
